Just in time for Christmas, with the birth of baby Jesus, Formex didn’t want to get left behind and is back with a new release. Joining the smaller dive watch movement with the Baby Reef. The Formex Reef is already a killer watch, the shape is great, the versatility with the interchangeable parts, the specs (which we will review below), you name it. Now, with Formex adding a more slim and trimmed version, we will be hard press to overlook this one while watch shopping.
Let’s review the specs of the new one: 300 meters of water resistance, stainless steel case, COSC Sellita movement SW300-1 with 56 hours of power reserve. 45mm lug to lug and 11mm thick. And of course, Sapphire crystal. If you opt for the bracelet, you will have quick release and micro adjustments. But a details that many might miss, is that all of the Formex straps also have quick release. And that their proprietary clasp, let’s you enjoy micro adjustments too. You cannot go wrong with Formex straps. But the advice I always hear, if you can get it with the bracelet, do it. Most times it is cheaper to get the bracelet with the initial purchase.
Four dial variants are available. 112 possible configurations, combining four bezels, four dials and 7 straps/ bracelets. By the way, I did not do the mathematical combination, that would have impressed a few. The good old BGW9 Super-Luminova we are used to see in Formex. The specs sound VERY similar to the “usual” Reef. Which you can check HERE. So what is the difference between the two? Only the size. Same quality in a smaller package. Cannot stop emphasizing that there are no bad choices here.
Prices starts at $1,650 on a NATO strap, going all the way to $1,960 with the bracelet. Each extra bezel, ceramic or stainless steel, is $170. You can check the Formex baby Reef HERE.
Thanks again for stopping by,
