SCCA Autocross Round 10 (9/30/17)

Hey everyone,

Here are my personal results and runs (video) from round 10 of the SCCA Autocross events of the San Francisco Region (SFR).

This was a double weekend, this means that on Saturday, we had Round 10 and on Sunday Round 11. I will make Round 11 its own post this post will be too lengthy if I don’t.

Let me introduce you to these events, if you are not familiar with them. Let me start with the venues and then move to car classification (classes).

This event, like many others throughout the year, was a joint event with American Autocross Series (AAS). These joint events are held at Crows Landing, one of the two venues used by SCCA for Autocross in the San Francisco Region.

Usually, Crows Landing is the venue where AAS holds all of their autocross events. SFR switches between Crows Landing and the Marina Airport near Monterey.

Every car is classified accordingly, more of this on a future post, to make the competition interesting and fair for everyone. If you are curious to check the SCCA rules, you can check the SFR frequently asked questions here.  The way they have it laid out makes it easier to understand, since looking at the rule book for the first time can be intimidating.

I am also posting the total results of the day, meaning the results of everyone that competed that day. You will see a number after the run number below, this means my time on that particular run.

Ok, now that the brief intro is out of the way, let’s get to the nitty gritty…

SCCA Round 10/ AAS Round 15 – October 30, 2017.

The first day of a double weekend, I thought this day was fairly good, when it comes to results, even though there was more competition than on Sunday (Results of the whole day AAS format, SCCA format).

Run 1 (48.551)

The recognition lap, I try to get used to the course on this one. You can also tell that I was not looking ahead on turn 2. Plus, some timing issues with the internal clock of the app.

Run 2 (45.23)

Coming in too hot on turn 1 but definitely improved.

Run 3 (47.073 [1])

Came in too hot on turn 2 and the final turn. I had to eat a cone on turn 2 due to the excess of speed.

Run 4 (43.979)

The hero run, surprisingly my best time of the day, which doesn’t usually happen on the fourth run but the third.

Go to the following post if you want to see the runs of Round 11.

Thank you for reading,

DL
