Review: How good is the Griot’s Garage Rinseless Wash & Wax

(Updated 9/7/21)

We are gathered here today to talk about a certain issue that I have been battling with for a long time. How to keep my car clean with the least amount of work. Moving to an apartment, aggravated the issue a little more. Carrying two buckets downstairs was a bit of a pain. Luckily, we are back at a house where the car accessibility is easier.

Griot’s Rinsless Wash & Wax

When you have the space of a driveway and a garage behind your house, you have plenty of room to wash your car, use as much water as you would like (please be environmentally conscious) and you can splash water as much and as far as you would prefer (if you are sloppy).

When you move to an apartment, you have the opposite. No room to maneuver your car, cannot use a hose by the parking spaces and more than likely will have cars next to yours, so splashing is not an option.

Solutions?

There are plenty of solutions for this issue out there. The main one I will talk about here is, the rinseless wash. Pretty much every big car soap brand will have one or an equivalent already released.

I ended up choosing the Griot’s Garage Rinseless Wash not for any significant reason. I will rotate between brands and stick to what I like the best in the end.

A few things to notice are that Griot’s Garage version of the Rinseless wash, was the most concentrated of the bunch but one of the most expensive ones also. I have tried more than a few of their products and I am really satisfied with their service and the results. Other brands to try are Adam’s polishes and Chemical Guys. Both brands I have tried in the past with great results.

What is it?

Description and directions for the Wash & Wax.

Rinseless wash is a soap formulated for you to use less water and make the washing process more efficient.  Although, if the car is heavily soiled, if you went off-roading for example, and you have chunks of mud hanging from the car, I would not recommend using it before hosing down the car.

The trick of the rinsless wash is that it let’s you cut a couple of steps, at least from my own process. Think of the process this way: rinse the car, foam the car, agitate the soap with wash mitts, rinse the car and dry it. Well, the way this makes my washes more efficient is, by letting me rinse and soap the car in one step with the wash mitts, and the product. For the second step I just dry it and the job is done.

How do I use it?

Now, getting more into the details of how I use it. The way I approach car washing is by doing the three bucket method. Having one bucket specifically for the wheels, with its exclusive soap and brushes. A second bucket is used WITH the product in it. A third bucket with water only, for cleaning the mitts after using them over the car’s paint.

If you decide to use this method, remember to always have your buckets clean. If there is dirt in the buckets, the new soap that you pour will be attacking that dirt instead the one on the car, plus you would reduce the potential scratches created by dirt residues.

Why did I buy it?

I ended up buying this product after we moved from a house to an apartment. At this complex, I was not allowed to wash my car, with a hose, inside the premises. The parking spots were pretty narrow and I did not want to use a coin wash to wash my car. I exclusively used the coin wash to rinse before taking it back to the complex and finishing the job there.

Veredict

I am extremely pleased with the results I got from my first time using this Wash and Wax. Coming from a foam cannon, a house with all kinds of water access, I can’t say I am dissatisfied with the Rinseless wash. I am actually happy that I can finish two cars in a hurry. It is worth clarifying that the versatility and wider range of cars that you can wash with a pressure washer and foam cannon are not going to be matched by the Rinseless wash, like I previously mentioned, if the car is really dirty, Rinseless wash will not be for you, from the beginning. You will need to add an extra step, pressure washing being preferred.

Give it a thought, let me know if you have used this before and how satisfied you were. Will you use it? Yes? No? and Why?

Thanks for stopping by, until next time.
