Ladies and Gentlemen,
Rejoice today with a review of the “WeatherTech 4-piece Trim-to-Fit Car Mats” that can be purchased at Costco.
Installation
To begin, I would like to state how glad I am that Costco has improved their selection of automotive items. We certainly don’t buy everything there but we have a couple of items that we have purchased from them.
Our family hauler, 7 passenger Mazda CX-9 has now new mats. Four mats are included in the set, two of which were not used due to the middle seats having to move frequently. I have added them since I first wrote this. My hesitation was that the mats would sit on the rails where the middle seats run and we would have to remove them often, which has not been the case.
In fact, the CX-9 does not bring mats in the middle or back row due to the same issue, the movement of the seats.
After some measurement and cutting, you can see the final product on the pictures below.
Pros
Let me state the obvious and say that now the car is protected and the mats are easier to clean. Pricing is another good one, specially for this car since we consider it a temporary big car while the kids’ car seats change.
I consider the installation a positive, it required a couple of trims but nothing crazy. We will leave that one as 50/50, since you can probably leave the mats shorter than they should if you are careless while cutting.
Cons
It would be great if these mats were perfect, specially for the price ($30)! But they are not. As mentioned above, I will add the “intense labor” included. Sarcasm aside, This is not really a con.
Finally, I ran into a small issue, the mats were somehow small in a couple of areas, close to the door sills area (width). They might not fit snug like an OEM product but they definitely do the job well.
So?
I have been really happy with the mats and how easy they are to install. If your car does not have all weather mats, this is a very considerable option. These mats are highly recommended. As a prize for sticking until the end I will leave you the video of Weathertech installation instructions that maybe I should have watched before installing them —> HERE!
